8 Artists I Want To Commission

Sharing Saturday - Artists I want to commission

I would love to commission a million different artists for work, but sadly it’s not in my budget just now. So this is a list of awesome artists that accept commissions, and hopefully one day I can request one from them! As usual all copyright and credit goes to these wonderfully talented artists. Please do check out their Patreons and follow them on social media if you like there work.

I also have a pinterest board where I’ll be adding any new artists to, so feel free to follow along to find new and amazing artists!

Frenone

I can’t remember if I came across Frenone on Twitter or somewhere else; all I can say is that I’m so glad I did! Her work is absolutely crazy gorgeous and every new work or WIP she shares I am drooling over. It was so so hard just to pick 3 pieces to showcase here.

 Straya Obscura

PatreonTwitter  |  Deviant Art  |  WWW  | FurAffinity

I think another artist on this list shared Straya’s work at some point and it is so utterly unique that I KNEW that one day I would have to commission something from her. What, I have no idea because as you can see from these examples the scope of her skill is massive.

Zaelli

There is just something timeless about Zaelli’s art, and the way that you can see the soul of the characters in the eyes of her portraits drew me to her work.

Today's 10/100 of my #100dayproject is my bff witch babe and art twin and future wife, Briana Mora. Her and I both freelance now (yay!) so I get to annoy the shit out of her again!!!! We met when we used to work at hot topic and I was too shy back then and not aggressive enough to try and be friends with her but luckily she probably noticed and showered me with compliments which broke down my shy barrier. Thank you for being so great to be Bri! . Today's 3/100 #100dayproject is actually a fictional character. I wasn't planning on doing any but it's #ncbd and I just read issue 5 of #MotorCrush! You guys… it is SO GOOD! This is Lola, a mechanic! She holds a special place in my heart now bc her character design is /amazing/ and side note, I almost went to an automotive vocational school! (Weird fact about me I guess? My dad is a mechanic. Oh well!) Anyways, go check out @babsdraws @cameronmstewart and @brendenfletcher'S motorcrush series at your local comic shop! photoshop / MattyDraws pencil brush / Kyle Brushes paintbox glazier #noboringmedia #noboringfam #lianakangas #patreon #illustration #portrait #nerd #comics #girlswholikecomics #comicart #girlboss #creativehappylife #creativepreneur #comicbooks #cintiq #Wacom #photoshop #communityovercompetition #abmlifeiscolorful #risingtidesociety #the100dayproject #100daysofportraits #100daysofportraitslk #imagecomics #motorcrushfanart #motorcrushmonday

6 Incredible Make-Up Artists to Follow!

6 incredible make-up artists to follow

Make up is one of my passions, and I love when people combine it with art and design. There are some incredibly talented artists out there and I wanted to share with you a few of my favourites for this week’s Sharing Saturday!

Please note: All images belong to the artists mentioned in this post. If you like their work please take the time to visit them and follow them on social media!

Tal Peleg

Deviant Art  |  Instagram  |  FacebookTwitter

Tal Peleg makes incredible scenes using eyes and eye shadows, and these are just a few examples. You really do need to view her entire gallery to see the breadth of her skill. I love how varied her designs are, and how quirky too. There’s plenty of Disney, some art inspired like the Dali eye featured here, and some childhood favourites too.

Svenja Jödicke

Deviant Art  |  Etsy

Svenja is an artist that uses her eyes and make-up as a canvas, and what I really love about her work is the use of items as well as paint and make-up. This adds a 3D element, and also means that some of her work is more about symbolism and colours. For example, the first design featured here is her interpretation of The Little Mermaid, as part of her Disney series. Her butterfly and insect series’ are awe-inspiring and if you’re ok with seeing insects then they are worth a browse.

Katie Alves

Website  |  Deviant Art  |  Instagram  |  FacebookTwitter  |  Youtube  | Tumblr

Katie is a pretty well known face on the web and you’ve quite possibly seen her work before. She takes make-up art to the next level, using a variety of different products and skills to create amazing looks. She did a fantastic series called 31 days of Halloween and included tutorials on her youtube channels for the looks she created. She has covered a variety of themes, and plays around with glow in the dark paint to create some stunning effects.

Ithinity Beauty

Website  |  Google +  |  Instagram  |  FacebookTwitter

Ithi at Ithinity Beauty has an extraordinary talent for painting nails freehand, and these are just a few of her incredible designs. She posts new ones every couple of days and they range from freehand, to swatches and using different nail art products. When I’m not drooling over her beautiful designs, I love reading her blog and learning about the new products she’s tried out. She often takes part in themes and challenges which has resulted in some fantastic ideas and creations.

Makeup For Glasses

Website  |  Instagram  |  YouTube  |  Twitter

Samaries focuses on creating beautiful eye make-up designs for glasses wearers. As one herself she knows the challenges ladies with glasses face and lists herself as someone who is “breaking the rules when it comes to wearing makeup and glasses”. She offers tips and product reviews, as well as detailing the products she uses to obtain her stunning eye make-up. While Samaries’ work is not as fantastical as the other artists featured in this blog post, I wanted to include her because of how important it is for glasses wearers to have someone like her doing this. While glasses themselves have become fashionable in recent years, not many people actually experience the struggles of creating make-up looks with bad eye sight or that stand out behind glasses.

Eva Senín Pernas

Deviant Art  |  Tumblr  |  FacebookTwitter

Eva’s work includes full face make-up designs, as well as focusing on individual areas like her crime scene lips featured in the first image. I love the versitility of her work, and how she includes full special effects like her Kerrigan look (second photo) as well as creating themed pieces. There’s a vibrance and ingenuity to her work that really draws you in.

Are you familar with any of these artists? Any new or different ones to recommend? Are you a make up artist? Let me know in the comments and don’t be share to drop me a link to your work! <3

Geek Girl Bloggers you need to check out!

Sharing Saturday - Geeky Girl Bloggers

In honour of International Women’s day this week I wanted to bring attention to a group of women who deserve recognition; geek girl bloggers! The celebration of women comes with messages of inequality, a reminder of why feminism is needed and the gender gap between men and women. One I am keenly aware of is that in the geek world. As seen by my regular feature Geek on the High Street, geek fashion is often limited to just the mens and kids sections. Women aren’t geeky, they don’t like Star Wars, comics or superheroes…. yeah, right! In the last year I have had the fortune to get to know the ladies of Geek Girls x Bloggers on Facebook and Female Geek Bloggers on Google +. Even though the names of these groups and the information states clearly that they’re for girls, guys still try to join. They want access for whatever reason – we’re not quite sure what they think they’ll get – and that just highlights the issue of why we need a women’s day, why we need feminism. This isn’t all male geeks, some are great and appreciate geek girls. But the fact is some believe they have the right to have access to our safe space, and brands believe that geekyness is only for boys and children.

With this in mind I want to introduce you to 6 Geek Girl Bloggers (I had to limit myself so if you’re not included please don’t feel left out!).

The Geek Girl Bloggers

The Nerdy Girly

Hi my name is Megan and I am The Nerdy Girlie! I LOVE all things NERDY and GIRLIE! Here at The Nerdy Girlie blog I want to build a community with ALL nerds and to encourage and support other nerdy women!

A Geek Girl's Guide

I’m Michelle Anneliese.  I am a Ravenclaw from District 13 who enjoys playing games and geek culture. My favorites are Harry Potter, Tabletop Games, and watching Twitch and YouTube.
I am a creator. I take the tools around me and make things. These things include stories and articles, graphics and designs, photography, and anything that captures my imagination.

I am multi-passionate. I work on many different projects that inspire me. I don’t fit into one box of creation; I want to do all of it. I don’t want my work to only be in one field or medium. I want to be able to express myself, tell stories, and educate through multiple medias.

Her GeekeryI’m Ashlee, the gal behind Her Geekery. I live with my husband and our fur-baby in sunny Southern California, freelancing by day and fighting for the Horde by night. Join me for blogging advice, geek culture news, book and game reviews, & whatever else catches my fancy.

Depepi.com

My name is Pepi and I’m a Social Media Consultant. I write books and create mixed media art paintings. I love technology, Superheroes, fantasy & sci-fi books too.

I studied Law in the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and International Studies (specialization Asia) in the same University. In 2003 I obtained a scholarship of the Japanese Government to study Compared Constitutional Law in the University of Tokyo. In 2008 I graduated from my Masters degree in the same University (x2). One of my passions is learning and speaking languages. I speak Spanish, Catalan, English, Japanese, Italian and French. Nowadays I live in the shinny UK.

I love reading, specially cultural anthropology books (Edward T. Hall, Conrad Phillip Kottak, etc), fantasy, sci fi and classic books. My favorite authors are Tolkien, Arthur Conan Doyle, Edward T. Hall, Marvin Minsky, George Orwell, Adous Huxley, Herman Hesse, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Amélie Nothomb, Lewis Carrol, etc. I also love reading comics. My favorites are Loki Agent of Asgard, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Captain Marvel, Spider Gwen, Star Lord… and many others!

Epicfied

I’m Kayla. Epicfied is my gamer tag and main identity throughout the internet. It all started with silly thirteen year old me saying “I need to go Epicfy my hair”… Epic to Epicfy to Epicfied! So I figured, what better URL for my personal/life blog?
I think I’ll be writing mainly about my life experiences (good and bad), my love for the geek life, and later along the road, I’ll be branching out to different blogs and possibly YouTube.
I hope you enjoy and please let me know if there’s any content that you’d like to see more of!

My Open Sketchbook

I’m Kay, a freelance artist living in New Hampshire. I specialize in portrait art, varying from semi-realism to more stylized portrayals. I’ve long been fascinated by human expression and body language (life long people-watcher here). Evoking that sense of life and emotion through my art is my biggest creative goal.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this peek into the world of geek girls that blog and that you enjoy their blogs as much as I do!
