After showing you so many Inktober 2018 prompts it’s now time to show you which prompt I’ve decided to choose for myself. Initially I was going to go with the original, the official prompts list as it was my first time doing Inktober. And then in my hunt for prompts I came across this one and it worked perfectly with why I was doing Inktober in the first place. I used to be good at art. I used to love art. That was way back in high school, before I headed to Sixth Form College and met a bunch of art teachers who systematically shredded my self confidence and ruined art for me. I’ve tried to get back into it numerous times since without any luck. I’ve realised the problem is that I’ve been setting the bar way to high for myself. Knowing that I can be good at art means that I am really frustrated when I struggle to draw the simplest of things. But years of not drawing or painting means I’m terribly out of practice and that means I need to back to the basics.
So I devised a plan; a doodle book. The problem is said doodle book has been sitting on my desk empty and to be honest; pretty damn daunting. I’ve always wanted to take part in Inktober and seeing so many wonderful prompts and everyone getting prepared for it, I decided this could be it! This could kick start my doodle book and I can also do something I’ve always wanted to do!
I am taking part in #Simplycuteinktober by ramwart and @elizabethjoymcdonald because it really did fit into the aesthetic of what I wanted to achieve for my doodle book; cute little fun doodles that make me smile. I also thought that these prompts gave me a lot of room to manoeuvrer, experiment and something to play around with. Unlike the official prompts I can see myself spinning ideas off of ideas with these prompts.
You can either join in the prompt with me by following the details in the prompt above or you can follow me on instagram as I post my doodles! I’m hoping to keep up with one each day but as we know my health isn’t great so I may fall a day or so behind. It would be great to have some cheerleaders to help me keep going especially if I start to struggle with self confidence. I don’t know yet if I’ll end up posting them every day, every few days, or even do a weekly catch up – who knows it may even be a combination of all of those! But I’d really love you to join me on this journey 🙂
Sorry Gemini! I didn’t forget you, I promise. As I explained in my update I lost a few weeks and I’ve been playing catch up. I knew I wasn’t going to make the ‘deadline’ (21st June) so I aimed for before the end of the month instead. Hopefully you’ll forgive me when you see what goodies I have in store for you 😉 As usual there’s a pinterest board filled with loads of things I’ve found on my search, and I’ve included the best and my favourites to show you in this post. For Gemini’s style is all about three core features according to College Fashion; youthful, eclectic and funky. This is an expression of the dual nature of their star sign, and they can often be found mixing two totally different styles together. Somehow though they always make it work, while any other star sign would look a mess Gemini’s look playful and flirty. Who What wear agrees with this, and suggest adding classic staples in bright cheery colours to combine two styles. Colours they recommend for Gemini’s include vibrant yellows, orange, and magenta.
Halter-necks and shoulder-bare tops are a must have in any Gemini’s wardrobe, Star Sign Style explains as a Gemini’s best feature is the neck, the part of the body that divides into two, starting at the shoulders. They’re also known for being expressive with their hands so accessorising with some bangles and bracelets adds an extra jingle to your outfit.
For make-up it’s all about the eyes, Star Sign Style advises, explaining that Gemini have beautiful bright eyes full of sparkle that just need a little help to frame them. Pop on some eyeliner and use a highlighting shade (bright white is ideal they suggest) in the inner corner of the eyes and over the lids. Shimmering eyeshadows are also recommended, especially paired with a dark eyeliner.
Take that shimmer to your cheeks, Miss Malini says, and take inspiration from June’s birthstone the pearl with some pearlescent blushes to give you a nice glow. Embody the duality of your sign with sparkling eyeshadows combined with a contrasting bold liner to create a two-tone look. Keep your lips neutral to let your eyes do the talking, with shimmery lip glosses suiting Gemini’s best. As for a Gemini’s nails, Miss Malini says go bold and express yourself with vibrant colours, especially Gemini’s signature colour yellow.

Symbol: The Bull Element: Earth Ruling Planet: Venus — the planet of beauty and love Physical Attributes: Deep and soulful eyes, long and elegant necks, delicate jaw lines ((Symbol, element, ruling planet and physical attributes information credited to Astro Style.)) Traits: Hard-working, Resourceful, Reliable Colors: Pink, Pastel Blue, Light Green Fashionable Taurus: Jessica Alba, Christina Hendricks, Dianna Agron ((Traits, colours and fashionable Taurus information credited to College Fashion.))
College fashion explains that Taurus women love a classic vibe to their wardrobe with well-made clothing with unique detailing, which means they do ted to go for the more upmarket and expensive clothes. That doesn’t mean they can’t be patient though and wait for just the right bargain to save a few pounds! As their symbol the bull rules over the throat and neck pay attention to your neck area by drawing attention to it with scarves and necklaces.
This is seconded by Who What Wear who state that for a Taurus “style is synonymous with quality”, but don’t worry about holding out for that designer item. It doesn’t make you a label snob just because you know how to appreciate the finer things in life. They recommend Blues, earth tones, and neutrals as your complimentary colours.
For make up Star Sign Style says to take inspiration from Taurus’ ruling planet Venus and go for a feminine look. Pinks and florals in particular are flattering for a Taurus, and use muted pinks to accentuate your lips. Miss Malini offers more examples, suggesting earth-tones for your eyes such as taupes, emeralds and shimmery browns and embody your love for all things classic with a simple but classy french manicure.
Dripping with gold and teal, artistic strokes bring a modern feel to this Taurus iphone case by KatsCustomStudio, £8.24.
