Holiday Wishes 2016

Christmas Wishes 2016

For several years now I’ve taken part in the livejournal community Holiday Wishes. To sum it up quickly; it’s a place where you post your wishes, and others post theirs and you help each other out by doing what you can. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to reply, to comment, or send you a sweet card to make someone’s December a little bit easier. It can be a very stressful month in many ways and 2016 has been an awful year in many respects.

So hop on over to Holiday Wishes to read the rules and check out other people’s lists and make someone’s day just a little bit brighter!

STEP ONE

  • Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered… whatever you’re comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related (“I’d love a Snape/Hermione icon that’s just for me”) to medium (“I wish for _____ on DVD”) to really big (“All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV”). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
  • If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it’s your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
  • Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

  • Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here’s the important part…
  • If you see a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make someone’s wish come true. Sometimes one person’s trash is another’s treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you won’t use – or even know where you could get someone’s dream purebred Basset Hound for free – do it.
  • You needn’t spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn’t to put people out, it’s to provide everyone a chance to be someone else’s holiday elf – to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not – it’s your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just… wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You’ll have the joy of knowing you made someone’s holiday special.

ย

My List

1 – Check out my blog,ย  leave me some comments and maybe volunteer for an interview? ๐Ÿ˜‰ This year I’ve been upping my blogging game, adding new features and generally giving it a big reboot. So I’d love for you to check it out and leave some comments <3 I also have a monthly interview feature which I need volunteers for; you can find out more about that on my blog under ‘interviews’ in the main menu ๐Ÿ™‚

2 – Follow me on Social MediaTwitter, Facebook Page, Instagram, Pinterest and Blog Lovin all need some love and I like meeting new people!

3 – Icons – I use icons over on my blog and would love some new ones. Credit will be given at the end of each post when I use one of your icons. What I would like; TV shows (Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, DC Shows [especially some cute Barry ones!], Supernatural, Rizzoli & Isles), Animals (I love any animals so surprise me!), Christmas/Winter, Seasons & holidays (some for each season as well as holidays – I’m in the UK), Nature, Video Games (World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, Dragon Age series), Star Wars (especially The Force Awakens, I’ve had no time to make them), and geeky/library/book ones.

4 – Send me something! – I love receiving things and collect post cards, key rings and magnets. I’d love to receive a care package or a little goodies as I’ve never received one before. I like candles, geeky stuff, and cats. I have no allergies, but I’m currently on a strict diet so no food items please (as much as it grieves me to say :P).ย  I do feel that I need to be upfront and say I can’t send anything in return ๐Ÿ™ Instead I will return my love by finding something on your list I can do for you! Please contact me for my address.

5 – Art – I am loathe to expect anyone to do art for me for free, which is why I want to emphasise that this would be a truly magical and much loved gift. I know how hard artists work, and so this is a shout out to anyone who feels inspired or would like the practise. I’d love some sketches, cartoon or chibi style of me (for my blog) or my World of Warcraft character Kaelea.

6 – Second hand books – I really shouldn’t add to my already long reading list, but I can’t help myself ๐Ÿ˜› If you’re in the UK and happen to have any old books lying around that you don’t want please check out my Goodreads to read list (I’ll accept digital copies as well in any format). Or if you use bookmooch and have some spare points, that would be great too!

7 – Youtube Subs – I took a massive step this year and started a youtube channel. Health has prevented me from updating it in a while, however, I still have everything recorded and waiting to edit so it will be revived (soon hopefully!). Any subscribers or views would be great, comments if you’re a WoW player would be fantastic too.

8 – Unused make-up or beauty products/samples – I have slowly been growing my collection of make up and beauty products so that I can start posting reviews and tutorials on my blogs. So if you have anything lying around that you don’t want/use, like free samples you’ve picked up or gotten from magazines, I’d love them! Due to hygiene reasons I can only accept sealed items, with the exception of nail polish.

9 – Amazon Wish List – Anything on my wish list would be absolutely amazing <3

10 – Gift Cards – For Starbucks, Steam or Birchbox are top of the list, but any others (UK friendly!) are always welcome too.

Do you take part in Holiday Wishes too? Post your list in the comments so I can check it out! <3

November Goals Recap

Monthly Goals November 2016

The end of the month is nigh and it’s time to look back over my monthly goals and see how I did!

Blogging

I feel quite content with how my blogging went this month, I upped my game but there’s still room for improvement. I need to get scheduling sorted for one, and I am so behind on commenting. So those will be priorities next month.

Youtube

I failed miserably. The new diet had me all over the place and proved to have some unseen difficulties (more below) so I’ve had a lot less time and energy than I expected.

World of Warcraft

Let’s see…

  • Finish my Demon Hunter campaign.
  • Finish my mainโ€™s profession levelling – Fishing is now maxed. It’s proving a lot harder to max everything else, so I think this is going to be a goal for several months
  • Complete a full set of Illusion Books (enchanting) for me and Chris.
  • Finish off Broken Isles achievements for killing rares. (Apparently I’d actually already done this :P)
  • Start levelling my druid with Chris – She should be 110 in the next few days!
  • Start levelling my mage solo – Haven’t even started her ๐Ÿ™
  • Do the dungeon profession quests on my Demon Hunter and Monk – Demon hunter done (and new ones found), but my monk I slacked on big time. I think I’m just going to leave her for now and concentrate on other characters as she is my bank character.

New Desk Set Up

It’s done and mostly set up ๐Ÿ˜€ I still need to move my make up from the bathroom into the new desk because I can’t do my make up in the bathroom. This is because I’m really short sighted (like -20 -20 seriously) and our mirror is above the sink… I need a mirror right in front of my face. So sitting down at my new desk with everything nearby works so much better for me.

I do have some pictures though!

New Diet

So the new diet has been tricky, and not due to the food. The food prep, especially for breakfast has been difficult for me when my body has decided it doesn’t want to behave. I’ve gotten into a routine, been trying new recipes and finding ones I really enjoy. I’ve also lost 9-10lbs already which seems unreal. I’ve been eating less, been much less hungry between meals and have noticed other good side effects too. My skin is much clearer, other health stuff seems better too.

However, I’ve been really nauseous a lot and I don’t think it’s due to the diet, like I said, I’m not feeling hungry so no feeling light headed etc. I think it’s a part of whatever weird random gland hurting illness that I’ve now had for over a year. My glands have also been getting worse, and sore more often :-/

Work on a Project

Nada, zilch. I was pretty sure that would be the case.

There may also beโ€ฆ

I totally failed on reviews and tutorials, but did get some Bioshock Infinite in!

So that was my month; how did yours go? Did you meet your goals? You may have noticed that I’m not beating myself up for missing stuff and that is important. Remember that when looking back at your own goals and lists ๐Ÿ™‚

December goals coming soon!

My Goals for November

Monthly Goals November 2016

After seeing several ladies over at Geek Girls + Blogger posting their November goals I decided it would be a good thing for me to implement. Hopefully it will help me keep up with things, as well as also helping me to realise that I am getting things done. That I am being productive even when I feel like I’m not. So here are my monthly goals for November!

Blogging

I’m planning on upping my blogging game this month in several different ways. Firstly, just generally keeping up to date and on top of things by scheduling posts in advance. Then by adding some new content in such as Christmas gift guides.

Youtube

Due to illness and RL priorities, I fell a bit behind with my videos. I have a lot of stuff recorded just need to edit and put it all together. I really want to get this done this month and get started on some new content! (Plus the Priest campaign has an epic finale I am dying to show you guys!)

World of Warcraft

I am still loving Legion but there is SOOO MUCH to do! It is so easy to get completely lost at the moment and just sit staring at my screen wondering what the hell to do next. So, I made a list especially for WoW:

  • Finish my Demon Hunter campaign.
  • Finish my main’s profession levelling (literally only archaeology is maxed…)
  • Complete a full set of Illusion Books (enchanting) for me and Chris.
  • Finish off Broken Isles achievements for killing rares.
  • Start levelling my druid with Chris.
  • Start levelling my mage solo.
  • Do the dungeon profession quests on my Demon Hunter and Monk.

New Desk Set Up

It was my birthday last month and my parents generously helped me get a brand new, much bigger desk. The plan is to get it set up this month and try to work out where everything is going.

New Diet

I’m not one for going on about diets, but it is very important for me personally to get the hang on this one. I am doing so much cooking that I feel like I’m cooking all day every day, and it requires me to get things prepared in advance. It’s a bit learning curve, not to mention sticking to the diet and going through the hard transitional phase which is going to suck.

Work on a Project

I have a bunch of online projects/websites I want to work on, and I may or may not have time to do this – it really depends on how my health goes this month. This isn’t a top priority which is why it is at the bottom of the list.

There may also be…

Some make up reviews and tutorials, and some Bioshock Infinite playing happening… Maybe. If not this month, next month for sure.

Do you have any monthly goals? Or anything you hope to achieve this month? Let me know! ๐Ÿ™‚

A Journey of Self Healing

A Journey of Self-Healing

Hopefully I can get through this entry without apologising for being behind in blog posts, for being ill and so on because the fact is none of it is something I have control over. While I wish I’d been better at blogging or been able to work on other projects, the fact is my health comes first and cutting down my to do list has been difficult in that respect. It’s been over a month since my last hospital appointment, an appointment which effectively saw a horrible doctor dump everything in my lap and tell me that my all over agonisingly painful glands were all my fault. I don’t want to go into details about that, but he was very rude, very dismissive and very ignorant of anything I had to say. So I am on a journey of self healing, working on several aspects of my life to try to get better. Honestly, I’m not hugely convinced. I was planning to work on one of those aspects anyway, and had already put things in motion for that, but the second one.. yeah really not convinced, neither is anyone else in my life. Still, I have no where else to go right now in terms of finding a solution so I am taking the time to work on these things and help myself.

Being able to defer my dissertation until January has been a big help. I currently only have life things that must be done, aka necessary errands, chores, appointments. That’s not to say nothing else is getting done, current blog post for example; I’m just not stressing or feeling too guilty if I don’t manage it. Now that I look back I realise I’ve been on the go for several years now, with health problems causing me to lose my summer breaks to studying for resits (this one being no exception). I need some me time, some time in which I can have a day of doing nothing if I need to because I feel ill, or simply because I just don’t want to. Even typing this I’m feeling the social guilt that tells me I’m lazy, that I’m wasting my potential. The thing is that we all need time like this, and we very rarely are able to get it.

I was away for several weeks recently on a mini-holiday, and then I was ill with a flu like virus immediately after which curbed my motivation significantly. I’ve been slowly working my way back in to things, doing bits here and there rather than trying to tackle a big project all at once. I’m hoping to build up week by week so not to pile the pressure on, and therefore, allow myself to build whatever it is back up to allow me to tackle multiple things at once – even while ill, because that part of life isn’t ever going away.

Weekend Break sponsored by Spoonies R Us

Spoonies R Us

The week started out to a tremendous start; an all day migraine. Bleurgh. I alternated between the bed and the couch, just about managing to binge watch TV (see what I’m watching here!). I finally managed to get to the doctors and talked through some things, including altering my migraine medication. Unfortunately that comes with the side effect of making me very sleepy – something that probably isn’t helped by the fact that I’m trying to sort my sleeping pattern in preparation for my exams. I have two exam dates so far and they’re both morning ๐Ÿ™ At the moment my days are starting at 10:30am, and that’s a struggle. So I’ve spent the week very sleepy, and with pain from a HMS flare up.

Friday came and went, as did Saturday so I decided that this weekend I’m taking a break from 5 Fandom Friday and Sharing Saturday. When I created this blog I knew this could happen, and I’m not going to apologise. It sucks, but it’s my life, and at the moment any (very few) moments of clarity need to be spent studying for my exams. I’ll be planning better this week and should have posts scheduled in advance. I am probably going to miss a few things, like Look Book and Reviews, for this month and next due to all this and exams.
