Lightsworn Paladin of the Val’kyr [Paladin] #TransmogTuesday

Lightsworn Paladin of the Val'kyr Transmog Set

So we’re having a Transmog Thursday this week! I had to push through for a deadline and ended up with several bust days afterwards thanks to my ME. As you can probably guess from the set name (set) it’s Paladin time and guess what? It wasn’t based on a set of shoulders! Rejoice! It was a helm this time, namely [wowhead id=125914] which I think is just gorgeous. I am not a big helm fan. I find most of them are big, ugly and as I play female characters they cut my hair off too. So it is highly unusual for me to pick a helm like this and especially for me to make a set based around it. Ideally I would have made a set with the blue version [wowhead id=124800] because I just LOVE the colouring, but once again Blizzard have made a set which doesn’t work with anything else but the items in that set /facepalm  Maybe one day I’ll be able to work out a set for it but it wasn’t going to be this week.

This set is by no means perfect, and a little rushed due to this weeks circumstances so I apologise for that. I do throw some blame at Blizzard though for making some awkward coloured items again without offering matching pieces. For example, the chest piece [wowhead id=143334] is a great red bronze breastplate, and you would think that the matching legplates would be the same colour, right? Nope! They’re yellow scale. I eventually found a plain-ish set of legs [wowhead id=160718] to accompany the rest of the set, and the dark tone balances off the head piece a little. I love the shoulders, but again not the best fit as the pale surface is a little too pale for the outfit and in some light stands out like a sore thumb.

About #TransmogTuesday

Every Tuesday is #TransmogTuesday and I’ll be posting with a new creation. My main is a discipline priest called Kaelea, so I do tend to edge towards cloth transmogs more than anything else. The aim of this project is to push my own boundaries, to get creative and work on some themes and ideas I’d normally not consider. That means I’m open to suggestions! Themes, colours, a transmog set around a particular item? Let me know 🙂

You can see my pre-existing work over at Wowhead where I’ll also be uploaded any and all sets. ((Texture used in banner is from Mercurycode.))

Over To You

Not my best work but I hope some of you like this one!

How do you deal with awkward coloured items that just refuse to fit together?

Do you have a trick to get them to work?

Or is it a case of hours searching for the perfect pieces or giving up and trying something else?

Let me know in the comments, as always I’d love to hear from you 🙂

Haunted Grove Keeper Transmog Set #TransmogTuesday

I’m taking a break from themed transmogs for a while and also doing something I’ve never done before; sets for classes! Usually I’m very careful to avoid sets that are limited to a particular class, however, after fiddling with the azerite sets for four weeks I need to have no restrictions at all. So first up is druid because I have been longing to make a set based around the gorgeous [wowhead id=96960] and have been struggling to do so. They’re a very specific shade of dark teal, an almost black but not quite so you can’t put them with black chests either. The result of me playing about is the Haunted Grove Keeper set which mixes elements of Druid tier 15 set, Vestments of the Haunted Forest, with the Garb of the Astral Warden heroic recolour set.

It’s quite a different set of colours for me and I’m sure it won’t be to everyone’s liking, however, I think it’s the unique colouring that is what makes it a good set. The odd teal of the shoulders aligns with the dark green of the robe, and then there are hints of blue in the boots and belt to match the eerie blue lighting on the shoulders. I chose to go without a headpiece and cloak as the shoulders and robe really are the centre pieces of this set and I felt they would add too much clutter to the set.  The weapon is a simple green, [wowhead id=118130], with blue spooky leaves to continue the haunted forest theme.

Please note: Slightly bugged images again; the chest ([wowhead id=139207]) is a robe and should be showing as such rather than legs. Hover over this WoWhead link to see the correct image.
