Dashing Demon Hunter #TransmogTuesday

Dashing Demon Hunter Transmog Set #TransmogTuesday

There were mixed reactions to the Rogue tier 21 Regalia of the Dashing Scoundrel, but personally I adored the Robin Hood vibe. I was working (unsuccessfully) with the red and blue mythic version of the head piece trying to put a Rogue set together when it evolved into a Demon Hunter set. I love that there are now non-class specific versions of tier sets, I just wish that Blizzard would fix the female hair issue – as you can see from these images it completely disappears. At least with this head piece it looks like she has her hair tucked up in a posh bun.

Dashing Demon Hunter is a set that borrows from a couple of other class sets while still keeping a demon hunter-esque vibe. As mentioned the head, [wowhead id=151985], is look-alike rogue tier, and the shoulders,ย [wowhead id=152413], are look-alike monk tier. There’s even a couple ofย  items that share appearances with druid legendaries thrown in there. So how exactly does it keep that Demon Hunter feel? It isn’t just the two massive glaives. I like to build my transmog sets around centre pieces and for me the chest piece is one of those. This one is from the Demon Hunter tier 19, and the legs are a skirt that match the chest really well – but are surprisingly from the previous expansion.

Burning Fel Witch Doctor [Shaman] #TransmogTuesday

Burning Fel Witch Doctor Transmog Set #TransmogTuesday

I had so much fun with this set! The last few transmog sets have felt like a bit of a struggle so it was a relief to get one that came together easily. The Burning Fel Witch Doctor set ending up being a kind of what-if set; what would happen if a Shaman ever became infused with Fel? Much like the dark shamans we saw in Siege of Orgrimmar this set is much darker than the usual shaman sets and is based around hues of deep red and fel green. I started with the head piece ([wowhead id=138343]) from The Nighthold and then matched the colours with the chest piece, another Shaman tier; [wowhead id=96684].

From there it was all about finding other pieces that fit in with the idea of a dark fel tinged Shaman, and I kept it simple with plain gloves and boots again. The belt is just a random green that blends in with the chest piece nicely. For the weapons I chose to dual wield the gorgeous [wowhead id=59462], a fel flamed axe that seemed fitting for this dark shaman.

Frostfire Storms [Mage] #TransmogTuesday

Frostfire Storms Transmog Set #TransmogTuesday

We’ve cycled back around to cloth for the class sets and I randomly chose Mage to wok with for this weeks set; Frostfire Storms.I started with the tier 20 shoulders [wowhead id=71095] from Tomb of Sargeras, aka the updated Tier 6 design. The shoulders keep the same purple hue as their Tier 6 counterpart along with some new blue elements and an electric storm animation. Continuing with the purple theme I pulled a couple of items from other Mage tiers; [wowhead id=138312] and [wowhead id=40418].

I chose a simple yet bright belt ([wowhead id=132374]) to correspond with the design on the chest of the robe and inject some colour into the lower half of the transmog. I kept both the hands and boots very plain to avoid clashing with the rest of the set. I couldn’t find any cloak in the right colours to fit with the set, but I do think that a cloak would finish this set off nicely. For the main hand I chose [wowhead id=27905], a long translucent sword of burgundy and purple that goes matches the robe. In the offhand is a spellbook ([wowhead id=61357]) which is primarily purple with a few blue accents to go with those on the shoulders.

Bugs galore – As you can see from the images from Model Viewer the robe is once again not a robe. Usually I rely on Wowhead to provide a full view of the transmog, however, they’ve also got a bug too. The last few outfits I created in their dressing room haven’t created screenshots of the set so there’s no image to accompany the outfit. Sorry guys ๐Ÿ™

Lightsworn Paladin of the Val’kyr [Paladin] #TransmogTuesday

Lightsworn Paladin of the Val'kyr Transmog Set

So we’re having a Transmog Thursday this week! I had to push through for a deadline and ended up with several bust days afterwards thanks to my ME. As you can probably guess from the set name (set) it’s Paladin time and guess what? It wasn’t based on a set of shoulders! Rejoice! It was a helm this time, namely [wowhead id=125914] which I think is just gorgeous. I am not a big helm fan. I find most of them are big, ugly and as I play female characters they cut my hair off too. So it is highly unusual for me to pick a helm like this and especially for me to make a set based around it. Ideally I would have made a set with the blue version [wowhead id=124800] because I just LOVE the colouring, but once again Blizzard have made a set which doesn’t work with anything else but the items in that set /facepalmย  Maybe one day I’ll be able to work out a set for it but it wasn’t going to be this week.

This set is by no means perfect, and a little rushed due to this weeks circumstances so I apologise for that. I do throw some blame at Blizzard though for making some awkward coloured items again without offering matching pieces. For example, the chest piece [wowhead id=143334] is a great red bronze breastplate, and you would think that the matching legplates would be the same colour, right? Nope! They’re yellow scale. I eventually found a plain-ish set of legs [wowhead id=160718] to accompany the rest of the set, and the dark tone balances off the head piece a little. I love the shoulders, but again not the best fit as the pale surface is a little too pale for the outfit and in some light stands out like a sore thumb.

Fallen Seraph [Priest] #TransmogTuesday

Fallen Seraph Priest Transmog Set #TransmogTuesday

Last week I took a week off from TT due to migraines and internet troubles, but don’t worry I’m back and with a set that I think is probably my most ambitious yet. I said I wasn’t doing these by a theme and yet here I am making another set based around shoulders /facepalm. The mythic [wowhead id=124178] dropped when we were doing a transmog run and I knew I had to make my priest set based around them – they’re just perfect for a spooky seraph October set!

The result is the Fallen Seraph set which is like nothing I’ve made before and it’s really out there for me. A bold statement piece in the form of [wowhead id=112866] takes centre stage alongside those gorgeous shoulders with a simple head piece, gloves and belt to accompany them. There is no belt or back with this one because the details of this robe are stunning (check out the back details below!) and covering them up would be sacrilege.

The only thing I’m not happy with is the weapons. The weapons are always the last part of a transmog set for me (it would be interesting to do it the other way around sometime) and I made this stunning set and then struggled to find appropriate weapons.

I get the feeling that this set will be like Marmite; you’ll either love it or hate it. Which are you?

Do you prefer bold sets like this?

Or do you go for a more of a subtler look in your transmogs?
